MISSION "Sustainability
South West is to be the independent champion of sustainable development in the
South West." ROLE In
seeking to achieve its overall mission, Sustainability South West, or SSW, has
a number of different roles: - a
catalyst for change
- a
provider of strategic advice
- a
disseminator of best practice and new ideas
- a
project initiator and manager
- a
partner in key regional processes
- a
cross-sectoral discussion forum
OBJECTIVES
- To represent
key sectors with a substantial stake in the sustainable development agenda in
the South West, and to promote consensus between them on the best way forward,
regardless of the sector from which they come.
- To
provide high-level strategic inputs to key regional bodies (e.g. the Regional
Assembly, SWRDA, GOSW, Objective 1 and Objective 2 Partnerships, etc) with a view
to embedding sustainable development at the heart of their policies and practice.
- To
maintain an active working partnership with the Regional Development Agency.
- To
develop a close and supportive relationship with the South West Regional Assembly.
- To
maintain close relationships with Learning & Skills organisations in the South
West.
- To
assist in the work associated with the Regional Sustainable Development Framework
and to promote this actively throughout the region on an ongoing basis.
- To
promote other sustainable development initiatives and ideas to key groupings and
sectors throughout the South West (e.g. business, local government, learning &
skills , voluntary and community organisations) where SSW believes that it has
a clear opportunity to add value to existing work at the regional level.
- To
commission key research projects to help deliver the Round Table's overall mission.
