Our purpose is to raise a greater awareness for the need for sustainable
development in the region leading to positive action.
The Team adopts
a cross-sectoral partnership approach. Our partners include other Government Departments
and agencies including the Environment Agency, local authorities, Energy &
Environmental Management Groups, green business clubs/waste minimisation groups,
the voluntary sector and non governmental organisations that promote sustainable
development. We are involved in supporting a large number of seminars and conferences
throughout the region each year.
The Team promotes a number of Government schemes to help the industrial, commercial
and public sectors reduce environmental impacts and we engage the services of
fee paid Energy Advisors who make site visits to advise on energy saving opportunities.
We manage and co-ordinate the region's sustainable development web site (www.oursouthwest.com)
that provides news, information, environmental data, contacts and links for everyone
working towards a sustainable future for the South West of England
